Teenage pillion passenger killed in M40 bike crash
Getty ImagesA 19-year-old woman who was a pillion passenger on a motorcycle has died following a crash involving two other vehicles.
Thames Valley Police said it happened on the London-bound carriageway of the M40 in Buckinghamshire - between junction four for High Wycombe and junction three for Loudwater - at about 20:40 GMT on Saturday.
A grey motorcycle, a black Volkswagen Polo and a blue Hyundai Tucson were involved.
The male motorbike rider, 20, from Maidenhead, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and has been released on police bail until 12 May.
The force said the pillion passenger, who had suffered life-threatening injuries, was taken to hospital and died on Wednesday.
A specially-trained officer was supporting her next of kin.
Det Sgt Oliver Cahill-Smith said: "Our thoughts remain with the loved ones of the victim of this collision at this extremely difficult time."
He appealed for anyone with any information or dashcam footage to come forward quoting reference 43260088366.
The car drivers were assisting the investigation, the force said, and no other injuries were reported.
