Flood warnings in place as water levels rise

Residents are being warned flooding is expected in parts of the West Midlands this weekend.

Two flood warnings remain in place in the region with one in Halesowen and the second in Warwick.

The Met Office has also issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds across much of the West Midlands.

The alert will last until 23:45 GMT on Saturday and the winds could cause disruption, forecasters warned.

The flood warnings, which mean flooding is expected, cover the Illey Brook in Halesowen and Gog Brook in Warwick.

In both cases, the Environment Agency said water levels have risen and were expected to increase through Saturday with more rain forecast.

There were also more than 20 flood alerts issued across the West Midlands including six in both Shropshire and Staffordshire.
