Murder charge over university student's death

A man has been charged with the murder of a second-year student at the University of Lancashire.

The body of 19-year-old Carla Georgescu was found in student accommodation in Victoria Street, Preston, on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Officers said they had been called at 13:15 GMT to the report of a sudden death.

Nathan Owens, 34, of Hopps Street, Hartlepool was charged with murder on Monday night and is due before magistrates in Preston later.
