Warning to beachgoers after large landslide
HM Bembridge Coastguard Rescue TeamBeachgoers have been urged to stay well away from unstable cliffs after a large landslide on the Isle of Wight.
Coastguard teams, police and firefighters were called to Yaverland beach on the island's east coast to examine the fall on Thursday afternoon to make sure there was no-one was trapped or injured.
The fall, at the beach sandwiched between Sandown Beach and Culver Down, has sparked a reminder from the coastguard team to visitors to follow its safety advice and stay away from the edge and base of the cliffs.
HM Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team said: "The cliffs are unstable, particularly after heavy rain and very dry weather - rocks can fall at any time."
