'Brew-tiful': Hospital's tea-themed postbox topper
NWAFTVolunteers at a city hospital knitted an afternoon tea-themed postbox topper to help raise money for a cancer charity.
Members of the Knit and Natter Group from North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust (NWAFT) - which runs Peterborough City and Hinchingbrooke hospitals - spent eight weeks on the creation.
The topper - which even features a knitted tiered cake stand - took pride of place at a recent coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
It is now on display at Peterborough City Hospital, where staff hope it will raise awareness of NWAFT's cancer wellbeing service.
NWAFTThe service provides support to people with cancer, as well as their family and friends.
It offers talking therapy, complementary therapies, lifestyle and welfare advice, and arts and craft classes.
Strictly Come Dancing star Craig Revel Horwood, the NWAFT charity's patron, has described the cancer wellbeing service as “a jewel in the crown of Peterborough Hospital's cancer services”.
In November, around 100 staff members will be abseiling 150m (490ft) down the hospital building to raise money for the service.
