Ukraine baby hat appeal back up and running

A newborn baby hat appeal in Guernsey is back up and running less than three weeks after being suspended, having found new partners.

Last month, Stand With Ukraine - Newborn Baby Hats Appeal (NBHA), said its logistic partner could no longer support its shipments to Ukraine and Latvia, so paused its services.

Now, Ferryspeed and Ukraine Relief in Bournemouth have partnered with the appeal, meaning it could resume operations, project leaders said.

Ferryspeed would deliver humanitarian aid from Guernsey to Ukraine Relief, where it would then travel to Ukraine, they added.

The NBHA had be running for more than three years.

Founder Lilita Krūze, said the appeal was very grateful for its new partners and its supporters.

Krūze said: "Several of them have been with us for almost four years and were saddened when we had to suspend operations for an indefinite period.

"Our green collection boxes will [now] be back in both Waitrose stores from Monday."

Donations could also be dropped off at churches, including Castel, St Matthew's, St Saviours, Torteval and Vale, bosses said.
