A group of knitters has created a Valentines-themed post box topper, to help brighten up a town centre.

Kaz Hare set up the Leek Yarn Bombers group in Staffordshire about a year ago, after seeing a knitted post box topper in a nearby town and noticing there was nobody doing similar in Leek.

There were three in the group when she launched it, but it has since grown to 20 members, she said.

The group's latest design can be seen on the gold post box on Derby Street.

"While we were putting it up, we had people stopping by every couple of seconds," Hare said. "People really appreciate it."

The seasonal knit features Cupid, some red lips, red roses, a red devil, heart shapes, an engagement ring in a box, a Champagne bottle and Champagne flutes.

Group founder Kaz Hare says she was inspired after seeing similar crafty creations in other nearby towns

"It's really lovely," said group member Susan Sharp. "We've had a lot of positive responses from it as well. It's great.

"Altogether it took about two weeks to put together" she added, with different elements of the design created by different members of the group.

Group members say they are receiving lots of positive feedback about their creative designs

Their previous designs have included a Christmas-themed topper and one for the first Moorlands Pride festival last summer.

The group was open to new members, Susan said, adding that people who were interested could find out more via their Facebook page.
