What have been the big stories in the West this week?

ITV West Country reported on a powerful story about living with HIV during National HIV Testing Week. Three friends from Bristol spoke about how understanding the virus can help reduce the stigma.

Residents and businesses in Salisbury, Wiltshire, have reacted to plans to increase parking charges in the city centre, saying it will "kill businesses". Rises of 20 per cent have been proposed by Wiltshire Council along with an extension of chargeable hours.

The story of a man who was attacked with a baseball bat after answering a knock on his door did well for Somerset Live. The victim, a man in his 50s, suffered cuts and bruises after the attack in Bridgwater.

Cheltenham MP Max Wilkinson posted about a train service from London that took nearly half an hour less than the standard time of two hours. He has now written to Great Western Railway bosses to request quicker journeys in future.

Bristol Live reported on animal transport lorries spotted leaving the former Bristol Zoo Gardens site in Clifton, protected by armed police. Staff have begun the gradual process of moving the gorillas to their new home on the edge of the city.
