A man has appeared in court charged with rape after a woman was attacked in Bristol city centre.

The woman was raped in the Assembly Rooms Lane area of the city at about 03:05 BST on 29 March.

Nitesh Nitesh, 20, of Byron Street, Redfield, appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with one count of rape. Two other people were arrested and later released under investigation.

He was remanded into custody and is set to appear at Bristol Crown Court on 15 May.
