Businesses are being sought to redevelop two waterfront locations in a bid to unlock a harbour's "full potential".

Guernsey Ports said it was inviting expressions of interest for the former slaughterhouse and a restaurant at Victoria Pier at St Peter Port Harbour.

It said both sites would be operated through a partnership which retained public ownership while providing security for private investment.

Commercial development manager David Buddery said the slaughterhouse was a "landmark building with immense potential" and the premises offered "an attractive, high-profile waterfront location".

Guernsey Ports said the eastern end of the former slaughterhouse dated back to the late 1800s while the western end of the building had operated as a restaurant since 2017.

Buddery said the locations were "two of the most prominent commercial premises" and offered "exceptional opportunities for redevelopment".

He said the port would welcome proposals from hospitality, commercial, cultural and mixed-use concepts which were financially sustainable and considered the heritage and surroundings of the site.
