Schoolgirl sexually assaulted by man in his 20s
Getty ImagesThere is an increased police presence in the Brislington area of Bristol after a secondary school girl was sexually assaulted by a man thought to be in his early 20s, police say.
An investigation is under way after the attack at about 10:30 GMT on West Town Lane in Brislington, Bristol, on Tuesday.
Detectives have not yet identified the suspect, who was described as being of mixed heritage, with braided hair and a tattoo on his left forearm. At the time of the incident he was wearing a white hoodie, black jacket, black jogging bottoms and black trainers.
Avon and Somerset Police said officers are reviewing CCTV in the area as part of their investigations.
"The wellbeing of the victim is a priority and detectives will continue to make sure she and her family are kept updated and supported," said neighbourhood sergeant Chris Downham.
"Officers are also in contact with her school to ensure appropriate safeguarding measures are in place for all pupils," he added.
Downham added: "We recognise this incident will be worrying for many people and a thorough investigation is being completed to identify the person responsible."
He said officers carrying out extra patrols "will be happy to discuss any concerns anyone may have".
Anyone who witnessed "anything suspicious in the area" at the time, or who may have relevant footage or information, is asked to contact Avon and Somerset Police, the force said.
