Where are the island's New Year Dips taking place?
MANX SCENESHundreds of swimmers are set to brave the icy waters of the Irish Sea to mark the start of 2026.
New Year's Day Dips have been scheduled to takes place at beaches around the Isle of Man on Thursday.
Raising tens of thousands of pounds for local charities, participation in the annual events ranges from a tentative paddle in the shallows to a swim out into the bay.
Whether you plan to take the plunge or just cheer others on, here are the times and places the dips take place.
North
Ramsey: Raising money for the RNLI and the Bunscoill Rhumsaa, the dip takes place at Ramsey South Beach at 11:00 GMT.
Registration is open from 10:00 at the lifeboat station.
South
Port St Mary: Marking the 25th anniversary of the Southern Dippers' event, three of a series of four dips take place in the southern village. Swimmers will enter the water at Chapel Beach at 10:00, before moving to Port St Mary Inner Harbour at 10:45, with the third at Gansey Beach at 11:30.
Port Erin: The final Southern Dippers dip takes place at Port Erin Beach at 12:15, with participants encouraged to wear fancy dress and funds raised going to the Children's Centre.
Castletown: Hailed as the longest-running event of its kind on the island, in the ancient capital the Castletown Ale Drinkers Society hosts its 62nd New Years Dip in the town's harbour at 10:00.
East
Laxey: Swimmers can take a dip in the sea in Laxey Bay in the village's annual event which takes place at 12:00, with those taking part setting off from the promenade.
Douglas: In a collaboration between Breast Cancer Now and Beach Buddies, the event from Queen's Promenade in the island's capital also starts at 12:00, with signing in by the Queen's Pub from 11:30.
West
Peel: Fundraising for the RNLI, ManxSPCA, and the Isle of Man branch of the MS Society, signing on begins at 11:00, with the annual fancy dress competition for dippers being judged at the Peel Sailing Club at 11:45.
The dip itself then follows on Peel Beach at 12:00.
