Road to close for wastewater pumping station works
GoogleDrivers have been warned of further disruption on a key route linking the Manx capital and the south of the island next month due to water works.
Manx Utilities said a section of the Old Castletown Road would be closed from 9-25 March as part of efforts to refurbish one of the island's largest wastewater pumping stations at White Hoe.
The utilities firm said the full closure of a stretch of the road was needed during the replacement of manhole covers and other infrastructure.
The closure comes alongside other ongoing works at Kewiague.
The access to the industrial estate will be via Kewaigue Hill Road, while those travelling to Douglas should travel via Quarterbridge Roundabouts.
Manx Utilities said the project was part of its ongoing programme to ensure the island's wastewater infrastructure "remains reliable, resilient and fit for the future".
The latest project at the White Hoe facility, which was built in 2000, included the replacement of "aging mechanical and electrical components which have reached the end of their service life", the firm added.
Works at the nearby Kewaigue pumping station began in January, with that project set to replace the 1987-built facility with a new gravity sewer in the Heron & Brearley Brewery grounds.
