A sink hole has led to the closure of a road in the south of the Isle of Man until at least Thursday.

The Department of Infrastructure said workers were excavating Four Roads in Port St Mary.

An emergency road closure was put in place on the road, which runs between Beach Road and the Four Roads Roundabout, after the sinkhole appeared on the Port Erin side of the Railway Station Hotel on Monday.

The department said the exact length the road would need to be closed would not be known until the "full extent of the issue has been established".

People can only access their homes from either side of the closure, with diversions in place via Castletown Road for all Port Erin traffic.

The Railway Station Hotel Site will remain open while the works take place.
