Amber warning of heavy snow for parts of county
uWhoAndyR/WeatherwatchersThe Met Office has issued an amber warning for heavy snow for parts of a county.
It said Storm Goretti was likely to bring snow, leading to disruption and dangerous travelling conditions across parts of the west and north of Northamptonshire.
The yellow warning is in place from 20:00 GMT on Thursday to 09:00 on Friday and suggests that, in some areas, up to 10-15cm of snow may settle - with the potential for up to 20cm in some locations on higher ground.
Storm Goretti has been named by Meteo France due to the most severe impact of strong winds being felt in northern France.
Met OfficeThe Met Office said people should be prepared for travel delays on roads, and possible delays or cancellations to rail and air travel.
Power cuts may also occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected, it said.
A yellow warning for snow remains in places from 17:00 on Thursday until 12:00 on Friday.
