Ex-officer faces trial over custody suite assaults
Getty ImagesA former police officer is due to go on trial accused of indecently assaulting a woman in a custody suite almost 30 years ago, it has emerged.
Nigel Brown, 70, from Mirfield, is charged with three counts of indecent assault on a woman at Dewsbury Police Station on 2 October 1996.
He was charged by postal requisition on 5 September last year, West Yorkshire Police confirmed, and appeared at Kirklees Magistrates' Court on 15 October.
He was a serving officer with West Yorkshire Police at the time, the force confirmed, with his trial set to take place at Leeds Crown Court on 31 August 2027.
According to LBC, which first reported the case on Friday, the woman was being held in a police cell when the alleged attack took place.
