Wreckage of light aircraft lifted from beach
A light aircraft that ended up upside-down on a beach after ditching in the sea off the Hampshire coast has been removed.
The Cessna plane came down near Lee-on-Solent Sailing Club on Marine Parade East on Saturday afternoon, with coastguard, lifeboats, firefighters, ambulance crews and police sent to the scene.
The pilot, a man in his 50s from West Sussex, who was the only person onboard, suffered minor injuries.
Firefighters initially winched the plane from the sea before it was later recovered from the car park above.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch said it had been "notified of an accident involving a light aircraft which made a forced landing and overturned on the beach in Gosport.
"An investigation has commenced and enquiries are being made to understand the circumstances which led to the accident."
