A murder investigation has been launched after an 88-year-old woman was found dead at a care home.

Lincolnshire Police were called to Sleaford Manor Care Home, on Waddington Road, Sleaford, at about 02:00 GMT on Sunday.

Two people arrested in connection with the death, a 74-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman, have been released from custody.

Det Insp Mel Rooke said: "I understand any unexpected death is a concern to our communities and this tragic death will be no different. I can say there is no wider risk to the public."

Rooke added: "Our inquiries will take some time to complete and I would ask that the family and the care home are left in peace and their privacy is respected."

The force said the investigation started after a post-mortem examination was carried out.
