The road remains closed in Exeter

People have been urged to find alternative routes after a busy road has been closed following a landslip.

The A377 Bonhay Road in Exeter, Devon was closed by Devon & Cornwall Police on Saturday after 16:00 GMT due to the landslip.

National Highways said a geological team would assess the road before it could reopen - but gave no time scale.

Councillor for Exeter St David's Diana Moore said it would cause "a lot of disruption' and people should avoid the road until it has reopened.

Moore said: "We've got to now get used to the wetter winters that are upon us because of climate change.

"It's having all sorts of impacts we haven't got our heads round really."

She added: "It's going to cause a lot of a disruption and people are going to have to think of other routes around Exeter and try to avoid it until the road is reopened."
