A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a stabbing, police have said.

The 49-year-old suspect from Exeter was arrested after the attack in Clifton Hill, Exeter at about 22:40 GMT on Monday, said Devon and Cornwall Police.

Officers said the victim,a man in his 50s, was in a serious condition in hospital and his next of kin had been informed.

Police are at the scene and carrying out foot patrols throughout the day and have appealed for witnesses to the attack.
