A wooden fence has tumbled down the bank and is tipped into the water, which is muddy with silt. There are shrubs to the left of the brook. The A1 in Cambridgeshire will be closed southbound for two nights as part of ongoing repairs.

National Highways said the road would be shut between Stibbington and Water Newton on 15 and 16 December, between 21:00 and 05:00 GMT.

It is part of work to fix a culvert supporting the A-road over Billing Brook, near Peterborough, which was damaged in a fatal crash in 2024.

Full repairs are scheduled to begin next year, lasting through to 2027.

The culvert is believed to be more than 100 years old.

The driver, Daniel Casariu from Luton, died at the scene following the crash in November last year.

People have been advised to check National Highways' website for further information and diversion routes.
