Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash in Redruth

A 15‑year‑old boy is in hospital with potentially life‑changing injuries after he was hit by a car on a busy Redruth road, police have said.

The Devon and Cornwall force said the teenager was struck by a white Seat on St Day Road at about 21:50 GMT on Wednesday.

Officers said they arrested a 19‑year‑old man on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs and causing serious injury by driving without due care and attention. He remains in custody.

Specialist crash investigators spent hours at the scene overnight and police thanked people for their patience and called for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
