Police were called to the scene in Smethwick on Friday evening

Police have appealed for dashcam and smartphone footage from the scene of a fatal stabbing.

Zeshan Afzal, 18, died a short time after being attacked outside a mosque on Oldbury Road in Smethwick, West Midlands, shortly before 21:00 GMT on Friday.

Detectives are reviewing CCTV already gathered as they "seek to establish why this happened and who was involved", West Midlands Police said.

The force added that although the disorder happened outside a mosque, there was nothing currently to suggest the stabbing was racially or religiously aggravated.

"We will continue to have a visible police presence in the area to provide reassurance over the coming days," a police statement added.
