More than 330k people use new bridge in first year
Worcestershire County CouncilA new multimillion-pound walking and cycling bridge has been used by more than 330,000 people since it opened a year ago, Worcestershire County Council has said.
The Kepax Bridge in Worcester, which cost £16m to build, crosses over the River Severn and connects Gheluvelt Park to St John's.
As it marks the one year anniversary of its opening, the local authority said it had become one of the city's most popular walking, wheeling and cycling routes.
It recently won an award at the Structural Steel Design Awards and was previously named Project of the Year 2025 at the CECA Midlands Awards.
The scheme to build the bridge was previously criticised because one side of the bridge leads to a muddy track, which one user described at the beginning of the year as "impassable".
But the council said the track was not a defined public right of way and did not fall under the scope of the project.
