Five men from Birmingham have been jailed after a man was left with serious injuries when he was shot with a sawn-off shotgun.

The victim, in his 40s, was sitting in his car in Charles Foster Street, Darlaston, when he was shot by the group on 11 October.

He left the vehicle and tried to flee the scene, but was shot two further two times, causing injuries to his face, hands and lower body, said West Midlands Police.

Shamus Hussain, Mohammed Ishtiaq, Abdullah Amjad, Samir Khan and Dilawar Khan pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life at an earlier hearing.

Amjad, 22, of Allens Avenue, Samir Khan, 19, of East Holme and Dilawar Khan, 19, of Mansel Road were all told they must serve 13 years and six months each for their part in the shooting.

Hussain, 26, of Floyer Road, and Ishtiaq, 23, of Oldknow Road, were sentenced to 12 years and seven months each.

All five appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday for sentencing.

Det Insp Francis Nock, said: "The sentences handed out to these five defendants sends out a clear message that such violence displayed with weapons, as in this case, will simply not be tolerated on our streets.

"The attack was premeditated with the offenders demonstrating a high degree of malice and an intention to cause the most serious of harm."
