Three charged over attack on elderly Sikh men
BBCThree men have been charged in connection with an assault on two elderly Sikh men outside Wolverhampton Railway Station.
British Transport Police (BTP) said Zackery Hall, 20, of Dudley, was charged with grievous bodily harm, a racially-aggravated public order offence, and three further public order offences following the attack on 15 August last year.
Nathan Edwards, 25, of Darlaston, was charged with grievous bodily harm, actual bodily harm, two public order offences, criminal damage and resisting arrest.
A third man, Leon Willetts, 18, of Rowley Regis, was charged with grievous bodily harm and resisting arrest, BTP added.
The three men have been bailed to appear before Dudley Magistrates' Court on 5 March.
Officers were called to an assault outside the railway station at about 13:45 BST on 15 August.
The victims, one man aged in his 60s and the other man in his 70s, attended hospital for treatment before being discharged.
Supt Sue Peters said: "We understand the concern this incident has caused to the victims and their families, as well as the local Sikh community and wider public.
"It's vital that the judicial process is allowed to continue without interference, and that nothing is said or published which could prejudice the ongoing court proceedings," she added.
"We remain in close contact with the victims and continue to engage with the Sikh community and partner agencies."
