Survey work is being carried out at the site of a former school in Kenilworth, earmarked for housing.

The work on the site on Leyes Lane is "investigatory only" and does not represent the start of development "or indicate that any approval has been granted," said Warwick District Council.

No building works, site clearance, or construction activity are authorised or taking place at this time, it said.

Prior approval has been given for the former Kenilworth School to be demolished. A separate application by Homes England to develop the land into 224 homes has also been submitted but a decision is yet to be made by planners.

Over the coming weeks this "limited survey activity" will include the use of a small excavator to carry out ground investigations, said the district council.

This work will be temporary, controlled and is expected to last for a few weeks.
