A bomb squad was called after an unexploded device was found in a garage.

Officers were called to a property on Normanston Drive in Lowestoft, Suffolk, following the discovery of a suspicious metal object at 09:50 BST on Thursday.

Specialists from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team attended and identified the item as a mortar shell.

It was removed to a secure location near the police's Corton branch and successfully detonated in a controlled explosion.
