Bridge damaged by vandals set to be replaced
Worcestershire County CouncilWork is set to begin to replace a foot bridge vandalised in a park in Kidderminster.
Worcestershire County Council said the project at Springfield Park would begin next week and be completed by the end of the winter.
The wooden bridge will be replaced by a polymer structure mounted on reinforced concrete foundations.
Councillor Marc Bayliss, cabinet member for highways and transport, said it would be "more stable and longer-lasting".
"We know this bridge was a well-used and much loved part of the local community, and we want to ensure the new bridge will allow it to remain so for many years to come," he said.
Councillor Ben Brookes, from Wyre Forest District Council, said replacing the old bridge had "not been a straightforward or simple process" and thanked local residents for their patience.
