Police officer charged with sexual assault

A serving Thames Valley Police officer has been charged with sexual assault and is due to appear in court.

PC George Johnston, 27, based at Reading police station, was charged by postal requisition in December with one count of sexually assaulting a female aged 13 and over.

Police said it relates to an alleged assault on a woman in Woodley on 3 November 2024.

The attack was reported to the force on the same day and Johnston has been suspended from work since 4 November 2024. He is due to appear at Guildford Crown Court on Monday.
