Reading kitman given ban after homophobic comment

Reading's assistant kitman Richard Bone has been sanctioned by the Football Association after making a homophobic comment towards a match referee.
Bone's comment towards Matt Corlett was heard by the fourth official in the first half of Reading's match against Huddersfield on 9 August 2025.
Bone has now admitted the charge, external and received a six-match stadium ban, £200 fine and mandatory education.
The Terriers ended up beating the Royals at the Select Car Leasing Stadium with two goals in the second half the difference.
"The club respects and supports the outcome of the regulatory commission process and acknowledges the importance of maintaining the highest standards of conduct within the game," Reading said in a statement.
"Richard has accepted responsibility for his actions and will now serve the sanctions imposed.
"Throughout this period, the club will support Richard in undertaking the required education programme and rehabilitation, with a focus on learning, accountability and personal development."
