An exhibition showcasing the works of a well-known local sculptor has opened at a town's gallery.

Life Lines features the work of Nicolas Moreton, an elected member of the Royal Society of Sculptors, who lives in Blakesley, near Towcester.

His works are on display at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery.

West Northamptonshire Council, which runs the gallery, said the exhibition "draws attention to what connects us all - fertility, growth and the wonder of life".

The council said the show "invites visitors to reflect on the vital forces of blood and water, which flow through us and around us".

"These essential elements, often unseen, sustain and regenerate life, creating a sense of well-being and harmony.

"Through his carved figurative and abstract forms, Nicolas captures textures, marks, and rhythms that encourage viewers to pause and contemplate the forces that make us human and our deep connection to the natural world."

James Petter, the council's cabinet member for culture and leisure, said: "This exhibition is a wonderful celebration of life in all its forms and provides a chance for everyone in the community to engage with art that inspires reflection, wonder and a deeper connection to the world around us."

The exhibition runs until 22 March.
