Three men jailed for roles in drug conspiracy
South Yorkshire PoliceThree men have been jailed for their roles in supplying over £175,000 worth of crack cocaine and heroin in Sheffield.
Baran Aslan, 21, Jamal Usman, 22, and Muhiyadin Ismail, 33, had all pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to supply class A drugs. Aslan had also admitted possession of crack cocaine, cocaine and heroin with intent to supply, and Usman also admitted possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply.
At Sheffield Crown Court on Friday, Aslan and Usman were jailed for four years, while Ismail was jailed for three years and six months.
Det Con Darcy Tabani said the trio were part of a gang which "flooded the streets of Sheffield" with over 1.75kg (3.86lb) of heroin and crack.
Six other men were jailed in December for their roles in the conspiracy.
GoogleIsmail, of Fleury Place, Gleadless, had received calls for three drug lines, known as Zed, Ghost and Ice, more than 300 times between March and June 2024, according to South Yorkshire Police.
The Ice line had been diverted to a number belonging to Usman, of Bawtry Road, more than 500 times in three days that same May.
Business cards advertising drug drop-offs were found at his address when he was arrested in January last year.
Aslan, of Deerlands Avenue in the Parson Cross area of the city, was arrested in August 2024 and found in possession of three mobile phones, police said.
One of the phones had been used in connection with the Zed drug line 153 times over the previous two days.
'Harmful offending'
Aslan was arrested again days later after he was searched in the city centre and officers found drugs on him worth £1,300, including crack cocaine and heroin, South Yorkshire Police said.
Aslan admitted possession of cannabis but faced no separate penalty.
After the three were sentenced, Tabani said: "These three men were part of a gang that flooded the streets of Sheffield with 781.6g of crack cocaine and 977g of heroin.
"They took advantage of vulnerable people and I'm pleased our dedicated operation involving teams from across the force has led to combined jail terms of more than 26 years.
"These results show the kind of difference we can make when we all work together to disrupt drug criminality."
