Bus firm announces increase in fares for new year
BBCA bus firm is raising fares across its network ahead of the new year.
Trentbarton said "increasing inflation" and "costs for parts, materials, lubricants, and fuel" would mean increases for passengers from Sunday.
The £3 government single fare cap will remain on its routes, apart from the Red Arrow and journeys that operate from midnight to 04:00 throughout 2026.
But the operator, which provides services across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and nearby destinations, will raise ticket prices for children and on its discount tickets for multiple journeys.
The cap for its current under-10s category will increase from £1 to £1.20, and will now be for all children under 11.
Zigzag fares will also rise, with an adult ticket moving from £8.40 to £8.80, a duo from £14 to £14.50, and a group ticket from £18 to £18.90.
Saver tickets for seven days up to an annual pass will also rise, with the cheapest annual pass rising from £780 to £840.
The fare caps on trentbarton's Mango app are also being raised.
A spokesperson for the bus firm, based in Langley Mill in Derbyshire, said: "These latest changes reflect the increasing inflation, costs for parts, materials, lubricants, and fuel facing operators worldwide."
