Testing ordered after mould found at primary school
BBCTests are being carried out at a primary school after mould was discovered in a classroom, the government has said.
The move comes after mould was treated "immediately" at La Mare de Carteret Primary School in Cobo when it was reported in mid-July.
Justin Diamond, head of operations for the States property unit, said the results of independent tests "will help us build a clear understanding of the situation, and any recommendations arising from the findings will be considered and acted upon as appropriate".
He said the team would do any necessary remedial work "well ahead" of the new term in September.
Diamond added: "We can reassure the school community that we are taking this seriously.
"While La Mare de Carteret Primary School is an older building, age is never a reason to compromise on health and safety, and the room will be used only if experts are satisfied it is safe to do so."
