A contractor is being sought for refurbishment work at Les Varendes High School.

The work is scheduled to run while the school is closed for the summer holidays, from 17 July to 2 September. The States said work is planned for the music, sports and admin block, humanities and dining and crafts.

Contractors are being asked to bid for up to three separate areas of work and to set out whether they have the resources to complete more than one project. The planned work includes installing new heating, ventilation and electrical systems.

Tenders must be submitted by 3 March, with the States aiming to award the contract by 17 March.

Les Varendes High School, formerly Guernsey Grammar School, was completed in 1985 and much of its mechanical and electrical infrastructure is original.

A phased refurbishment program began in 2014 but was paused for several years before restarting in 2025.

The States said: "Contractors will be responsible for the full delivery of the project, including design checks, insulation testing commission and cleaning to the satisfaction of the States' project manager."
