Police said food and clothing donations were damaged

A volunteer-run food bank in Easter Ross has been forced to close after it was deliberately set on fire on Monday.

Evanton Community Sharing Shed next to the village's Jubilee Hall was created to provide food and clothing for people in need.

Police Scotland said many of the items donated to the food bank had been damaged by smoke.

The community facility has been closed for repairs.

In an statement shared online, the Sharing Shed said: "There is damage to shelving and everything is covered in soot."

The community group added that cleaning and repairs could take time.

A police spokesperson urged anyone with information about the incident to get in touch.
