'I've lost £25,000 after flooding damaged my cafe'
BBCThe owner of a restaurant and farm shop said he had lost about £25,000 due to flood damage after severe weather battered south-west England.
Chris Wright, owner of Otterton Mill, in Budleigh Salterton, Devon, said it had been a "tough few days" after his business had to close due to extensive damages.
The business sits alongside the River Otter and a historic working watermill, and Wright said all his equipment had been lost due to the flooding on Tuesday.
It happened as a result of Storm Chandra on Monday and Tuesday, which caused widespread flooding issues.
Otterton MillThe restaurant - which had closed on Wednesday due to the flooding - reopened on Saturday, but Wright said not being able to get insurance had cost him.
"If we were on a hill it'd be great but we'd be a windmill not a watermill," he said.
"The floor went, we've lost a lot of equipment. It's been a tough few days for us for sure.
"Our running total is pushing £25,000 in losses just in equipment and stock, let alone the fact we've been closed for a few days."
The effects of Storm Chandra are still being felt across the South West.
There are five flood warnings in Devon and two in Cornwall and the Environment Agency said river levels were expected to stay high for some time.
Rail routes between Exeter St David's and Barnstaple, and Exeter St David's and Okehampton, will also stay closed over the weekend with replacement buses due to flooding.
Trains are cancelled between Liskeard and Looe and Par and Newquay also because of flooding, with disruption expected until the end of Sunday.
A yellow rain warning is in place from 12:00 GMT on Monday to 09:00 on Tuesday.
