Driver dies after car crashes into field

A woman has died following a single-car crash in Devon.

Devon and Cornwall Police said it was called to the B3178 East Budleigh Road, Budleigh Salterton, at about 21:00 GMT on Sunday after a car left the road and went into a field.

The car's driver died at the scene and her next of kin has been informed, police said. The force added a passenger in the car was taken to hospital to be checked for minor injuries.

The road was closed but reopened at about 09:00. Police have asked witnesses to get in touch with them.
