Cutty Sark station reopens after improvement works
TfLCutty Sark station has reopened earlier than expected following major escalator upgrade works.
The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in Greenwich, south-east London, has had four escalators installed along with a new lift, wall coverings, LED lighting and a new fire detection system.
Trish Ashton, director of rail at TfL, said: "We're delighted to announce that an improved Cutty Sark station will reopen earlier than expected, ready to welcome customers back through newly modernised and more reliable station facilities."
Barrie Kelly, chief executive of Visit Greenwich, said he hoped the "important transport hub" would bring "a much-needed increase in footfall" over the spring and summer.
Prior to the works, all of the station's escalators were out of action and passengers had to use the 121 steps to get to and from the platform.
