Snow has fallen across parts of Sussex as temperatures across the county struggle to climb above freezing.

Weather warnings for snow and ice have been issued for most of the UK, and although there is no warning for the south east, snow has been spotted in the region.

People in Worthing, Horsham and Shoreham reported coverings of between 2-3cm on Monday morning.

Meanwhile the Chailey School, in South Chailey, East Sussex, has announced it will be closed today because it has no hot water or heating. All schools in West Sussex are open as normal.

An amber cold health alert for the south east remains in place until 10:00 GMT on Friday, meaning the weather is likely to cause a rise in deaths, an increase in demand for health services, and travel delays, the Met Office says.
