A man in his 70s is in hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car, police have said.

Emergency services were called at about 16:40 GMT on Sunday to a report of the incident near the Esso garage on Cheltenham Road East in Churchdown, Gloucester.

The pedestrian is currently at Southmead Hospital in Bristol and remains in a serious condition, Gloucestershire Police said.

The road was initially closed for investigation work but reopened at midnight on Sunday.

Police have asked anyone who has witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage should get in touch.
