'Loving' man dies on Christmas Day following crash
Gloucestershire PoliceA man who died on Christmas Day, 11 days after being involved in a collision with a car, has been remembered as "a loving partner, father and grandad".
Emergency services were called to the incident on Cheltenham Road East, Churchdown on 14 December at about 16:40 GMT, following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car.
Peter Bate, 75 and of Churchdown, had been out walking the family dog, and was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
The crash happened near the Esso garage on Cheltenham Road East, which was closed for crash investigation work but reopened several hours later.
In a statement, Bate's family said: "Peter Bate sadly passed away on December 25 2025. He was involved in a road traffic collision in Churchdown on December 14 while out walking the family dog.
"He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
"Pete was a loving partner, father, and grandad. We are devastated by the loss of Pete, who was much loved by us all."
