Noble's Hospital in Braddan will take on the services of Ramsey's MIU department

A free shuttle bus service between two Isle of Man hospitals has begun, after services were relocated due to a pest control issue.

Manx Care confirmed the bus, between Ramsey minor injuries unit and the emergency department at Noble's Hospital, will run until the end of April.

It comes after some services at Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital (RDCH), including the minor injuries unit and x-rays, were temporarily relocated to Noble's Hospital in Braddan.

St John's Ambulance will run the dedicated shuttle service from 08:00 on weekdays, with the last bus leaving Noble's at 19:30 GMT to return to the north each day.

The minor injuries unit in Ramsey can tend to injuries such as fractures, sprains, animal and insect bites and emergency contraception issues.

Skin services and the island's blood clinic has been relocated to the Martin Ward at the RDCH, whilst podiatry and physio problems will now be seen at the Central Community Health Centre in Douglas until April.

Relocation plans were unveiled earlier this month, with Manx Care, the arms-length health organisation on the island, undertaking "a comprehensive deep cleaning and inspection programme" due to the pest infestation.
