Appeal after pedestrian in hit-and-run crash dies
Lancashire PoliceA pedestrian who was struck by a car in a hit-and-run crash earlier this month died on Christmas Day, police have said.
The 42-year-old man, from Lancaster, was hit while walking on the pavement on Ovangle Road in Morecambe by a black Hyundai i30 car at about 14:30 GMT on 16 December.
Lancashire Police added that the car, which had been reported stolen, was later found abandoned a short distance away on Lancaster Road.
A 41-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop have since been bailed. The woman was also detained on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
'Witness appeal'
Detectives have released an image of a car that is the same make and model as the one involved in the collision.
Officers hope it jogs people's memory as they appeal for more information.
Det Sgt Matt Davidson said: "Inquiries into the collision are ongoing and although two people have been arrested, we are continuing to ask for information and footage that could assist us investigate this tragic incident.
"We are particularly interested in footage of the Hyundai before and after the collision.
"We know this vehicle was sighted in Scale Hall prior to the collision and are appealing for your help."
He urged anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of Ovangle Road, or anywhere on Scale Hall between 14:00 and 14:30 GMT on 16 December to call 101 or email [email protected] and quote log 743 of 16 December 2025.
