A World War Two power station is up for sale for £2m

A former World War Two blast-proof building and the 55 acres of woodland it sits on have been put on the market with a guide price of £2m.

Frogmore Woods, located in Fen End, Kenilworth is described as a "James Bond-style hideaway" due to its secluded location and tough exterior.

The building is a brick-built auxiliary power station and was constructed originally to power Royal Air Force station RAF Honiley during the war.

Estate agent Edd Holt, from Moveli, said: "In 14 years of estate agency, this is one of the most unique opportunities I’ve had the privilege of selling."

Planning permission has already been secured to turn the building into a five-bedroom home.

In the listing, Moveli described the former powerhouse as having walls up to 13 inches thick, which "whisper tales of wartime grit".

The property was originally formed as part of the wider RAF Honiley complex which operated as a fighter and training station during the war, with aircraft such as Spitfires, Hurricanes and later Mosquitos flying from the base.

"The structure on site functioned as auxiliary infrastructure and was built to be blast-resistant, which explains the unusually substantial brickwork," said the agent.

Holt said the "James Bond-style hideaway" offered "complete seclusion yet strong transport links nearby" and "has a certain cinematic quality".

"It feels more like a hidden retreat than a conventional building plot," he added.

The property is owned by a private local family who originally intended to develop it themselves, having secured planning and completed the necessary surveys.

They later decided not to proceed and the site is now on the open market with an asking price of £2m.

Viewings are strictly appointment only.
