Work on town's ageing gas pipes 'essential'

Ageing gas pipes are to be replaced in Goole.

Chris Reed, from Northern Gas Networks, said the works were "essential" to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to homes and businesses.

Work is due to begin on Friday and continue until the middle of December.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place on the A614 Rawcliffe Road, near the junction with Andersen Road.

Engineers will replace the old metal pipes with modern plastic ones.

Mr Reed said he wanted to "apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused".
