Police are investigating whether a robbery and the death of a man in a seaside town are linked.

Norfolk Police said the robbery was believed to have taken place on Blackfriars Road in Great Yarmouth at about 04:00 GMT on Sunday and was reported after the victim was taken to hospital.

A man in his 30s appeared to have minor injuries, but his condition deteriorated and he died in hospital on Tuesday.

Osvaldo Semedo, 26, of King Street, Great Yarmouth, appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court on Wednesday charged with robbery.

The case was adjourned and he is due to appear at the city's crown court on 11 February.

A Home Office post-mortem examination was carried out on Thursday, however, the cause of death was said to be inconclusive and further tests will be carried out to establish his death.

Det Insp Donald Dallas, said: "We're keeping an open mind about what happened as we continue to work on several inquiries to establish the facts.

"I know this has had a terrible impact on the man's family, and the community and I'd urge anyone with information to get in touch, however small or insignificant you may think it is."

The force is working to establish if anyone else was involved and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has further information.
