A teenager has appeared in court charged with murdering a 16-year-old boy.

The 15-year-old suspect, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Wednesday charged with the murder of Shayne Hambakachere in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

Hambakachere was found critically injured at about 16:00 GMT on Saturday. He was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol but later died from his injuries.

The 15-year-old boy spoke only to confirm his address and date of birth. He was remanded into a youth detention centre and will appear at Bristol Crown Court on Friday.

In a statement released through Wiltshire Police, Hambakachere's father, Emmanuel Hambakachere, previously described his son as "bold and brave".

Mr Hambakachere also thanked doctors and staff at Southmead Hospital.

Flowers and tributes to Shayne have been left at Hardenhuish School in Chippenham, where he was a pupil.
