A police investigation is under way after a mass brawl broke out at a non-league football match.

Officers were called to Bilston Town FC's Queen Street ground on Saturday after reports of people being attacked at about 17:00 GMT.

Footage circulating on social media seemed to show brawling and violent scenes, also involving a player, during the FA Vase tie against Droylsden FC.

A spokesperson for the club said it was also investigating the circumstances of what happened adding that events were "not a fair reflection of the game or day as a whole".

The club, which plays in the Midland League Division One, said it was aware of videos being shared and was investigating the footage.

"We would like to thank the supporters of Droylsden FC for their cooperation," they added.

West Midlands Police said no arrests had been made.

"We are working to establish the full facts and will be contacting the victims to get full statements, and will be reviewing mobile phone and CCTV footage," the force said.

"Anyone with information has been asked to get in touch with us."
